About this item
- Ideal for Renters and Landlords: Easily install Retrofit Smart Locks in 10 minutes. They fit over your existing deadbolt on the inside of your door. The outside doesn’t change—giving access with the original keys—which you won’t need anymore.
- Remote Control, Anytime, Anywhere: Unlock Smart Lock anywhere, anytime, right from your phone via the eufy Security app.
- Auto Locking and Unlocking: A built-in sensor detects when your door is closed and locks it automatically behind you, keeping your home secure even when you’re in a hurry or if your hands are full. Auto unlocks when you approach with your iOS device (using location geofencing).
- 5 Ways to Unlock: Along with Auto Unlock, you can control your lock remotely via the app, by voice, with the included wireless keypad, and it can still be opened with the original keys.
- Advanced Security: Retrofit Smart Lock stores your in-app data locally using an AES128 encryption chip, rather than in the cloud, to keep your personal information safe and private.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does Smart Lock R10/R20 support Alexa and the Google Assistant?
A: Yes, both Alexa and the Google Assistant are supported.
Q: Which deadbolts are compatible with these locks?
A: They are compatible with most single cylinder deadbolts. They are not currently compatible with mortise locks, double cylinder deadbolts (key hole on both outside and inside of the door), medeco, multi-lock, or single-sided deadbolts. We do not recommend using with a deadbolt that is already difficult to lock and unlock.
Q:How long will the batteries last?
A: With normal amounts of use (10 locking and unlocking events per day), the battery is expected to last about 180 days. You will receive a notification in the app if the battery is lower than 10%.
Q: How many passcodes and fingerprints can the lock store?
A: It can store up to 100 passcodes and 50 fingerprints from multiple users.
Q: How can I create a new passcode or register a fingerprint?
A: 1. Go to your lock's section in the eufy Security app and connect to your lock. 2. Tap "Manage Access" at the bottom right of the screen. 3. Tap "Add Access" and follow the instructions to add passcodes or fingerprints for your family and friends.
Q: How does the auto lock function work?
A: As long as you have enabled the auto lock function in the lock's settings section, when the built-in sensor detects that your door is in a fully closed position, it will trigger the smart lock to automatically lock your door. If the door remains unlocked for an extended time, 3 minutes by default, it will be automatically locked.
Q: Where can I see my lock and unlock events?
A: 1. Go to your lock's section in the eufy Security app and connect to your lock. 2. Tap "Lock Events" at the bottom left of the screen.

The app is terrible. I’ll go to lock/unlock my door using the app, and it takes at a minimum 45 seconds to a full minute and a half to actually do what I told it to do in the app. Sometimes it doesn’t work at all and the app gives me an error. I bought the lock so I wouldn’t have to fumble with my keys when bringing up groceries/bulky items to my apartment. I found that even with this lock, I still have to dig out my key to unlock the door since the app usually throws an error message or the lock is taking way too long to unlock my door. If I have to do that I might as well just keep the old lock and save the $90. Also the keypad I received with my unit doesn’t work at all. I tried different batteries and still doesn’t work so I’m left with using the poorly made app if I want to use the smart features of this lock. Another major issue, when I was at work, the lock unlocked itself. The app wasn’t running on my phone at the time and I’m the only one with access to the app, so how did that happen. Of course, when I went into the app I couldn’t lock my door due to another vague error. I had to go back home to re lock my door and remove the batteries out of the lock.
Buyer beware. Don’t buy this one. There’s many other good options out there.
The only problem with setup, was that it took at least five tries to connect to my Wifi. It also took a few tries to get the firmware to update. App setup was super easy.
So far, I cannot get it to work with Google Home, which was a big reason for picking this retrofit lock. It shows up in my home, but whenever I want to unlock it and enter my pin in, it keeps telling me its the wrong pin. Its not the biggest of deal breakers, since I use other Eufy products and their app regularly.
EDIT: Not going to reduce my rating, but note that this eats through batteries. Compounding is that CR123A batteries are expensive. My solution was to buy a double pack of EBL rechargeable CR123A batteries, that way I will have a swap set while the others are charging. As a comparison I change the AAA in my Schlage Camelot maybe once every 1 to 1.5 years.

I want to give the Eufy lock a second chance so I picked up the R20 with the fingerprint Reader this time during Christmas sale. I will write another review on the R20. I had installed it and so far it is working. However, I feel like it too was very cheaply made. Very plasticly. The big negative with this R10 and R20 is the battery housing. It was impossible to open. I struggle trying to open both the Smart Lock and the keypad. The Smart Lock was impossible. There was no grip to push the housing open. I though maybe I was trying to open the wrong part of the lock. I will review the R20 once I used it a bit. But I'm not too impress with it.
Why I wanted this Smart Lock? Because I wanted to use our existing lock/key. What problems I see with other Smart Lock is if the lock runs out of battery how will you be able to open it? A lot of people believe that it's not possible, it will give a fair amount of warning before this happens. But you never know. There are some Smart Locks that has their own keys but if I wanted to make more keys? I don't want want to special order them. Eufy does make a Smart lock that has a physical key and a USB port for an external battery to power the lock thru USB micro cable. Really? Why USB micro? Shouldn't this be an USB C? But having a way to power a dead Smart lock is a big plus.

Pros:-
1) easy to setup with eufy ioS/android app
2) Amazing smartphone app with attractive features.
3) door bell notifications are instant with thumbnails and text alerts
4) AI face recognition feature is amazing and it stores the visitor name for future notification
5) Totally secure, i find privacy much better then other product in market. Your data is safe in local storage if your using devices internal memory. No data stored over the cloud unless you subscribe for it.
6) night vision is perfect, including spot lights in camera which triggers automatically once someone enters into activity zones.
7) there are so many state of the art features in eufy products which i am still not familiar or couldnt find enough time to explore the.
8) and the most best part all of the devices are seamlessly connect with voice assistant (alexa, google home). I find it much better with alexa, amazon fire tv, and alexa touch screen frame. just say alexa show me door bell. it right away pops up the camera, or lock unlock the door.
9) built-in memory products are amazing, i am not worried about my privacy and data anymore.
10) there are a lot more pros of the devices and not on top of my head right now.
11) Yes, the customer services is superb, response spontaneously and keeps you in loop if yo arises any concern.
Cons:-
1) A little bit more work required on Alexa and google integration. it could be voice assistance side which sometimes takes longer then usual to pop up camera or take longer if you instruct alexa to lock the door. I wouldnt blame eufy. i know they will work with third party and update it.
2) The built in memory of cameras could have been increased from 128Gb, in my case its not an issue.
3) Sometimes the camera notifications delay. I guess cameras are not good idea to use as door bell, since door bell response is spontaneous and im loving it.
4) Door bell heats up pretty quick, i dont know its the factory default. In winter its a plus point to keep door bell warm so it dosent loses connection. but in hot summer days it could be an issue. But i havent faced any significant issue so far. yes if one person is streaming the live video on door bell then other user streaming device can hear audio from door bell. I figured out coz my alexa was automatically showing door bell once someone press the door bell and it pops it up on alexa screen. and at the same time i opened the door bell on my phone and couldnt hear the audio from the person at the door. Eventually i had to disable alexa auto showinf door bell video so i can anser the door bell from phone and speak with the person.
5) The door lock battery drains really fast, one of my door lock battery lasts 2 months only, i am using now rechargeable batteries
All above mentioned Cons does not mean the door bell is not functional. It is functional but i guess i used the devices beyond their limits or maybe something have never tested before by the manufacturer. i am sure they will come up with a solution in near future.
Simple words, thanks eufy. i am loving your security products. I can proudly say my home is protected by Eufy.
PS: this review is not paid or sponsored. Its my personal review which i reach to a conclusion after using eufy products for couple of months. I strongly recommend everyone, why to pay telco operators monthly fee, when you can get you own personalized, customized easy to install security system along with data privacy in reasonable price and best quality products

The locker works great. The auto lock and auto unlock feature is great and it works great so far. Having the geofence always ON is not a problem for me. My door is unlocked when get home. (You have 3 minutes to open the door or it will lock again) this timer should be longer and adjustable.
With auto lock works fine.
The only problem is that after a while without using the app, it takes too much time to connect with the locker again. I attached a video to show that. After connected, it works great. That problem is nothing to do with the internet speed. My internet is fast enough for this and I tried to attached a video as well to proof that but this allows only 1 video. Anyways the speed at the door is around 500mbps. So looks like the connection go to sleep if you don't use it often.
I have read reviews about the battery life, let's see how long my batteries last.
Update: the customer service is amazing. They responded very quickly and replaced my locker by a new one. Now is working fine.
Make sure your door locks smoothly and there is no binding; if so, you need to sort out if the lock binds or rubs metal to metal etc. Otherwise automatic locking will jam up upon locking (it will unlock but just not auto lock since it thinks it is jammed). This is not a fault of the device but rather the door lock not installed properly - this was my case.
Batterie life is the worst. I had to change 3 times the batteries in the last 9 months (4x CR123a batteries = 20$)
The original batteries did not last 2 months. I wrote to the Eufy support to check what was wrong and i had absolutely no return.
DON'T BUY THIS ITEM !!!
