Satsuki Azalea Bonsai Tree
Bring color to the art of bonsai, with the dramatic blooms of the Satsuki Azalea Bonsai Tree. Grown in Japan for centuries, the Satsuki Azalea species is a favorite for bonsai.
From May to June, with consistent care, the Azalea will bloom radiant pink unscented flowers, beautifully contrasting against the deep green foliage.
The Azalea thrives outdoors in temperatures above 20 degrees F with protection, and can be styled to deliver an attractive presentation year-round.
What is Bonsai?
Literally, the Japanese word 'bonsai' means 'tray tree' or 'plant grown in a pot.' The term refers to the artistic techniques used to capture the natural beauty of trees, rather than a specific variety of tree. A full-grown tree and a bonsai can be grown from the same seed - the bonsai has simply been dwarfed and shaped through years of training. The value of a particular bonsai typically depends on size, age, and training. Generally, more expensive trees are larger, older, and have had more detailed, elaborate training. These qualities combined create the illusion of a large tree in a natural setting.
Outdoor Bonsai Care Guide
Each bonsai is shipped with a care guide, ensuring you are equipped with the knowledge to care for your bonsai as it flourishes.
Bonsai Your Way
With an array of tree sizes/ages, bonsai species, and bonsai pot offerings, our bonsai can fit any home space or gifting occasion. Our ceramic bonsai pots are designed to compliment the natural beauty of the bonsai tree. Or, add your own style, and select the grower bonsai pot to repot in a setting of your choice.
We recommend pairing your bonsai with a bonsai humidity tray, which increases the humidity around the tree and elevates the soil to help prevent root-rot.
A Gift to Last a Lifetime
The gift of a bonsai tree is a gift that will continue to grow in significance as time passes. Bonsai trees can bring a sense of calm, balance, and a deep connection to nature.
The Satsuki Azalea Bonsai symbolizes wealth and abundance; an ideal Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, or birthday gift to bring luck and good fortune.
Over years, with regular care and maintenance, and an understanding of bonsai training, your tree can look like this specimen Satsuki Azalea bonsai.

Grown in the USA
Brussel's Bonsai - The Largest Bonsai Nursery in the USA
When Brussel Martin was five years old, he was instantly captivated by several bonsai his father brought back from a California business trip. As a teenager, he began to seriously study the art of bonsai. What started as an artistic endeavor in his parents' backyard quickly grew into a business. In the 1970's, he began selling bonsai through the mail and travelling to shows across the country. By the early '80's, he was making annual buying trips to Asia.
As the business has grown, so has his desire to introduce bonsai to more and more Americans. Brussels now offers a full range of bonsai trees, from modestly priced bonsai for the beginner to unique specimens styled by bonsai experts.

While there are many species of Azalea, the Satsuki, or Rhododendron indicum is easily one of the most popular, featuring an excellent low, twiggy habit with lovely funnel shaped unscented pink flowers. The Satsuki is Identified by two blossoms on the end of the terminal; they also have slightly hairy leaves budding out freely from even fairly old wood. Each live plant is shipped with the phytosanitary certificate as required by the USDA.

I have the plant indoors next to my south-facing window. It gets a little bit of light in the morning and then gets the sunshine from the afternoon sun. It is next to my router so hopefully it won't dry out from the air emitting from the router's vent. I placed a plate with rocks and water underneath it to keep the area humid. I've been watering it every day since it is summer and letting the water run out the holes in the bottom.
Since it sits on my work desk, I can investigate it each day to make sure it's not dying or drying out. I see it has 2 buds that have not opened. I'll update again in a month to see if the buds actually flower.
Update a month or so later:
I updated another picture of the bonsai, a side by side view of when I first got it to now. I have to preface that I am watering the plant almost every day or every other day if I see the humidity plate is low on water. It is summer so the house does get warm and my plant is next to the router on my work desk.
Also, I have been collecting the fallen leaves to show the amount of leaves I'm losing. Despite the amount of leaves im losing, I do see that the leaves are growing bigger on my plant. So I think the fallen leaves are just from my plant adjusting to the environment. This is a tree and trees do drop leaves occasionally.
My tree does look sparser than the original so I'm not sure if I'm trending in the right direction. But still it does not look bad. Ill leave my rating at 5 stars for now. My plant still looks healthy.
Also the buds I had originally have not bloomed. Hoping it's just going through a blooming cycle and won't just die off.
