If bees are in your area, all feeders with sweet nectar in them will attract the bees. One tip is to make sure that no nectar is on the outside of the bottle, for example spilling it while filling it, or having a bit of nectar on your hands and then you touch the outside of the bottle. Anything on the outside of the bottle will call to the bees. Good for you for feeding the Hummers. They are so special!!!!

Make sure the feeder is rinsed real good prior to hanging. You may need a feeder with a bee guard.

Put a drop or two of Citronella Essential Oil in the Ant Moat water.

It doesn&#39;t say it will keep bees off, it says they can&#39;t get the nectar. I have the occasional bee, but once they realize they can&#39;t get the nectar they buzz off. I have used a bee trap near them too if I see too many bees, it works well.

You don&#39;t, hummers seem to get use to sharing the feeder. Seems to be seasonal when the bees are really bad.

The 2015 model was swarmed by yellowjackets.  At the beginning of 2016, First Nature changed the feeder by raising the feeding ports just slightly.  No more yellowjacket problems.  I compared the two different year models in the store, and then looked at the tag, and the 2016 model had a new revision number.  It was basically the same feeder from 2015 just taller ports.

Plastic. It comes apart in three pieces, for easy cleaning.

Give the bees their own feeder. Use a shallow open saucer type dish

this feeder is one of the only ones out there very easy to clean you can get at every inch of it easily, and it has a bar around the edge for the birds to sit on while they're feeding

Only hummingbird feeder I buy

I own quite a few feeders in various sizes. I put out fresh feeders every few days taking the existing feeders inside to sanitize in a weak solution of chlorine bleach. I rinse and put them aside to dry. These are relatively easy to thoroughly clean. The birds aren't really picky, but I think they like these better than my glass variants. 

  The openings are a little weird looking. It doesn't bother the birds. 

Please keep your feeders clean and fresh or don't put them out!

You can spend more, but you don't need to.

I only use hummingbird feeders with perches to give the birds a rest and was excited to find this economical option. It comes apart fully for cleaning, which is important to keep mold out of the nectar. The only downside is the lack of an ant moat. But I rubbed a little castor oil on the bottom of the hangar pole and that kept them away.  The wasps can't seem to get anything from it, either. I'm ordering a second one today.

Great value. Easy cleaning

These are cheap, but excellent! I started with one to ensure the hummingbirds liked it and used it. We have monsoons and sometimes the wind blows them over and I don't broken glass! These do the job and are easy to clean! Bought two more, may buy another!!! Worth it!

Cheap, easy to clean!

Keeps most bugs out because of the tiny slits but the teeny gnats %26 ants can still get in so we add ant moats. Feeder is easy to clean but will disfigure in dishwasher. Very lightweight but best of all, they are inexpensive!

Best hummingbird feeders we have!

Hands down, this is the one to buy. They last for years, easily cleaned and we get 30-40 hummers per day currently. Why pay more? The only way I'll change feeders is if they continue to raise their prices.

Our favorite feeder!!

Even novice hummer keepers know black mold is common and a killer of hummingbirds, so feeders must be kept clean from top to bottom. First Nature's old design understood that concept. The reservoir and dish design, vertical tank sides, wide mouth, and oval ports were easy to clean with gum brushes (for between your teeth) and a baby bottle brush. Well, that has all changed! Flaw %231: The new slit port design is impossible to thoroughly clean, so they are nothing more than a perfect breeding ground for black mold. To be fair, I understand this was an effort to make feeders less bee-friendly, but with the old oval ports, I just added a thin band of hot glue across each port, and it worked perfectly. %232: The clear plastic tank is so thin it squishes almost as easily as a pop can. I'm afraid I'm going to crush it when it gets a little hard to unscrew. %233: The inner dish ring is a lot more narrow and difficult to clean. Photo shows the new version (left) and the old version (right). Wish I could show how thin the clear tank is. This ex-loyal customer is extremely disappointed. It's obvious First Nature didn't consult hummer keepers about the design changes. I'm not a genius, but the flaws are obvious even to me. If you love your birds, please get something else. I'm returning these ASAP and will look for something else. I want to feed my hummers, not make them sick.

Not good anymore. 3 new problems.

I have other appearance like feeders and ordered two feeders.  Regrettably, the flower holes are so small, the Hummers have difficulty getting their tongues in the holes and being smart and hungry, they abandon the narrow hole opening ones and the use of the two feeders purchased are of little to no use.

Disappointed

We did OGP I had ordered two first nature hummingbird feeders. I ordered what I saw in the picture. Got food and such back home, and realized that the base to the feeder was different than in the photo. The picture on line has a base that really bring the birds in to feed. A soon as we took them out of the Walmart sack I realized they were. We love 20miles from Walmart, and rarely go inside. But who really has time to jack with bringing it all the way back to town. Anyway, these I received won't be used.

I have dozens of First Nature feeders. I bought 4 of these and 3 fell off the lid while hanging. Can you imagine the mess and the ants and bees from all of that nectar going splat on the ground?! The hummers don't seem to care for these much - if I have the traditional red with yellow flowers feeder available they'll go to it first. First Nature typically has the best but this is a POS. DO NOT BUY!
