How to Keep Your Pollen Allergies at Bay: 5 Effective Tips

You are right if you did, seasonal allergies are widespread, and more people are affected by them than we care to admit.



Seasonal allergies develop each year as the trees and plants release tiny pollen particles to fertilize other plants. These particles are called allergens as they trigger the immune system to release chemicals, resulting in the symptoms of a runny nose, sneezing, and even fever. It can be a pain to deal with these allergies, so here are five tips that can help you curb them:


1. Reduce Allergen Exposure
You can take many steps to avoid allergen exposure. First of all, try to avoid going out on dry and windy days, and choose rainy days instead. Give tasks that include plants to someone you know is not allergic. Do not hang your laundry outside, and if you have to go out, get a pollen mask for it.


2. Be Proactive
Keep a check on your local news and radio stations, and make sure you hear it when they talk about rising pollen counts. If you hear about high pollen counts, take anti-allergy medicine beforehand to avoid any symptoms. Close doors and windows at night and early in the morning.


3. Keep Indoor Air Clean
You cannot claim that a product will clean your air by a hundred percent indoors, but an Air Purifier does help to some extent. When you are at home or in a car, try to use its air-conditioning instead of fresh air, and make sure it is filtered well. Also, use a dehumidifier to keep indoor air dry.


4. Non-Prescription Medications
There are many types of medications that you need no prescription to buy or use but are effective in easing the symptoms of allergies. Oral antihistamines, decongestants, nasal sprays, and combination medications that include two or three of the previous ones are common remedies to combat allergies.



5. Rinse Your Sinuses
Not to state the obvious, but this might be the most crucial step in keeping your allergies under control. You can get a small squeeze bottle or neti pot designed for nasal rinsing. Use distilled or boiled water for rinsing. The water needs to be saline to make sure that you mix the right amount of salt in it.
